Wales Border Hike 2017

Leg 2 (177 Miles) | Offa's Dyke Path

Leg II MILES WALKED: 177 miles (Complete!)

Last check-in: Prestatyn

* Map of Welsh border not map of trail

Well, I finally made it to the Welsh - English border. And now all I have to do is walk from the south to the north coast of Wales....

Luckily, there's a 177 mile path that roughly follows the border - the Offa's Duke Path. Specifically it tries to follow the 8th century earthwork created by King Offa of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia. Lots of people say it may have been made to keep the Welsh out, but no one's quite sure.

In any case, it follows undulating hills and some mountains up the English Welsh border, all the way to Prestatyn. From the looks of things it can get more remote than even the Coast Path, so we'll see how this goes....

Week 8: Chepstow to Monmouth

Well this is pleasantly different

Week 9: Monmouth to Knighton

And I stayed in a Priory

Week 10: Knighton to Llandegla

Rain and hills and castles and UNESCO aqueducts

Week 11: Llandegla to Prestatyn

Lovely Finish to Leg II!
